Roxie
Roxie, a little Dobie mix came from the Carson Shelter when she was four weeks old with her litter mates. A wonderful Shelter scout saw them and knowing they needed rescuing she contacted Gina Kantzabedian who owns and operates ANIMAL CRACKERS Pet Shop in South Laguna. Gina's heart is as big as the Ocean and so she agreed to take the puppies and save them.
Roxie was growing bigger and stronger when she came down with life-threatening pneumonia. This necessitated hospitalization at the Emergency Clinic at night so that she could be in the oxygen chamber, and hospitalization at the daytime Veterinarian so that oxygen could be hooked up to the tube that was stapled across her face. While there Roxie was given X-rays and antibiotics in her IV. Distemper fears were looming but so far her symptoms no longer indicate that disease however she is being very closely monitored.
Just Tuesday Roxie was allowed to come home to her foster family to recooperate. But it will be weeks in getting better and growing stronger. Roxie would fall over if you petted her standing because she was so weak, and she had no interest in her toys or playing. Roxie has been a angel throughout this whole challenge and has never complained but she needs your prayers to grow to be the strong and healthy girl she is meant to be. Thanks to Gina and everyone else involved Roxie is not going to be "just another statistic" but her bills rival a Las Vegas jackpot so if you could afford a donation it would be tremendously appreciated!
